My read of the week

I am an avid reader. I constantly search for the next good read and can go through MANY books in a month. I am not really picky as to my genres of books that I read, and like several different categories including: thrillers, sci-fi, chick lit, paranormal, classic literature, steampunk, fantasy, historical fiction and non-fiction, autobiographies, and even young adult fiction.

Some of my most favorite authors, in no particular order, include: Philippa Gregory, Charlaine Harris, Richelle Mead, Rachel Caine, P.C. Cast, Stephanie Meyer, Seth Graham-Smith, MaryJanice Davidson, Lauren Kate, Steve Hockensmith, Christopher Paolini, Anne Rice, Margaret Mitchell, Jane Austen, Edith Wharton, any of the Bronte sisters, Nicholas Sparks, Gigi Levangie-Grazer, Kate Chopin, Edgar Allan Poe, Ernest Hemingway, Alyson Noel, Donald McCaig, and DeeAnne Gist.

Reading is my ultimate hobby and my stress outlet. When I read a book, I can get lost in the language and travel to another world. It's no lie that I have tons and tons of books, both printed and electronic (I love my Kindle!), and love the Goodreads site that I'm a member of and the Paper Back Swap club that I belong to.

So, to share with you my current read for this week, I have started Robert Goolrick's A Reliable Wife, (ISBN 9781565129771). This novel follows the lives of a well-to-do older gentleman in the early 19th century who places an ad for a reliable wife, one that is demure and god-fearing. What he doesn't know, is that she has a hidden agenda which includes marrying the man and killing him inconspicuously, all to become a wealthy widow. However, what she doesn't know is that he has a plan all of his own and their lives become intertwined as they both never dreamed.

I am very excited to read this book and hope it will be as wonderful as it sounds!

Cheers, Crystal

Fab finds!

Hi guys!

I wanted to share with you some of my recent Fab Finds that I purchased over the weekend. As most of you know, I am a huge vintage, pinup and punk enthusiast, and I found some wonderful items to add to my collection!

First, I received my much-anticipated hair accessories order from Belle Blossoms! I am super excited about using these hair clips in my vintage dos! I nabbed a cherries clip, some black and white polka dot bow clips and set of miniature red rose clips. I love these!

Next, I found an awesome pair of black patent leather heels by Naturalizer at a local shoe store by the name of Beaty's Shoes (in the Tri-Cities, TN area).

I also picked up an awesome souvenier shirt from the local Little City Rollergirls derby that I recently attended. I love this shirt and think it's very punk and edgy!

Last, but not least, I found this awesome Talon phone case in the Grunge Heart design at Amazon for my Motorola Droid 2!

I hope you've enjoyed looking at my fabulous finds!

XOXO, Crystal

My weekend fun: a rollerderby match!

Our weekend was centered around our first-ever roller derby match! We had the pleasure of seeing the Little City Roller Girls match up against the Rocktown Rollers.

For those of you who aren't familiar with roller derby, (and I am one!), the Little City Roller Girls is a flat-track roller derby team that was formed in 2007 in the Tri-Cities, TN area. My family and I had such a fun time at the All's Fair in Love and Derby match this past Saturday night. It was much more fast-paced than I thought it would be and we can't wait to go back and watch another match soon! Even though the LCRG didn't win this match, I'm sure they will win the next! For those of you who would like to read more information on the Little City Roller Girls, please click here.

Me all dressed up for the night!

Until next time!
