A Typical Vintage Look

I thought I'd take the time to post a few photos of myself in a typical vintage look that I would wear out on the town for a date with the Mr, just doing errands, or at work. I get the odd occasional look from those that aren't into the scene, but I just smile and walk on by! They obviously don't know what they're missing out on!

I was a bit pressed for time, so I just used some flower clips from Inkabilly and did a side part with twists in a snood from K and Katie.
Top - Vintage (no label)
Skirt - Robinette of California
Shoes - Learn to Read Vintage
Earrings & bracelet - Vintage (Little Old Lady yard sale finds!)

My Fun-Filled Plans for the Weekend!

I'll be taking an extra long weekend and having Friday off, in order to fit in all the loads of fun we'll be having this weekend!

Friday starts my kiddo's first official day of Summer break! It's also mine and my husband's 11th wedding anniversary. So, to celebrate in style, our crew will be going to see the infamous and dashing Mr. Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow in Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides opening night!

Saturday will be another jam-packed day of fun as we head up to the Dillard Place in the Cherokee National Forest in our hometown to take part in the TWRA's annual Kid's Fishing Day, where kids get to fish for monster-sized trout in the area's stocked ponds.

Gage and friends with his first catch of the day at last year's Kid's Fishing Day

Last, but not least, Sunday will be another fun day for us as we head to our town's annual Iris Festival, which features all sorts of crafts, food, games, and fun.

Wiggle Perfume and Sundries Giveaway

I was given the wonderful opportunity by Wiggle Perfume and Sundries to host a giveaway for some lovely custom-made perfumed oils and I know that you guys will love them!

I stumbled across Wiggle Perfume and Sundries on Etsy a while back and was captivated by the wonderfully vintage photo shots of each customized bottle of perfumed oils. The ingredients listed for each bottle sounded like a wonderful combination and I couldn't wait to try them. I purchased the Honeysuckle Sweet Tea perfumed oil and the Valdosta perfumed oil and was not disappointed in the least bit! Their fragrance is intoxicating and just what I was looking for. Being the genuine southern gal that I am, the Honeysuckle Sweet Tea is, by far, my new favorite scent and the wonderful peach blossom, honeysuckle, jasmine, neroli, and magnolia scents in the Valdosta perfumed oil are also a favorite too!

After raving about my new purchases, the wonderful folks at Wiggle Perfume and Sundries graciously agreed to allow me to host a giveaway for one 5ml roll-on bottle of Honeysuckle Sweet Tea perfumed oil, one tester bottle of Mathilde perfumed oil, one tester bottle of Sakura performed oil, and one tester bottle of Anna May perfumed oil. The lovely folks at Wiggle Perfume and Sundries have many, many different scents to pick from, from bold, to feminine, to light, to airy. They are sure to have something that you will just love!

Wiggle Perfume and Sundries describes the scents up for giveaway as:

Honeysuckle Sweet Tea perfumed oil:

This fragrance blends deep, rich black tea with sweet, summery honeysuckle and a base of golden honey for a final product that radiates warmth, softness, and femininity.

*Image courtesy of Wiggle Perfume and Sundries, Etsy

Mathilde perfumed oil:

This combination includes a heavy pour of lavender essential oil, a dash of vanilla, a big wallop of black pepper, a splash of blood orange essential oil, and a drop of cardamon.

*Image courtesy of Wiggle Perfume and Sundries, Etsy

Sakura:

This combination includes a soft, springy cherry blossom blend, rounded out with Egyptian musk, red santal, and hints of fresh cut grass and nag champa. A tart top of pink grapefruit adds freshness.

*Image courtesy of Wiggle Perfume and Sundries, Etsy

Anna May:

This concoction includes peony and green tea notes, a generous dose of wisteria layered over white musk, a touch of orchid, a kick of ginger, the slightest hint of soft incense, and lychee for a top note. This fragrance is soft, floral, and fruity, though somehow still a little dark.

*Image courtesy of Wiggle Perfume and Sundries, Etsy

If you would like to have a chance at winning this wonderful set of perfumed oils from Wiggle Perfume and Sundries, please be sure to enter! One lucky reader will be randomly chosen on Thursday, May 26, 2011. Entries must be received by Wednesday, May 25, 2011 at 11:59pm EST. The winning reader will be notified by email and will have 48 hours to respond with their name and mailing address.

Good luck!

I would just like to convey my thanks and gratitude to the wonderful folks at Wiggle Perfume and Sundries for giving me the opportunity to host such a great giveaway. Please be sure to visit their Etsy shop, as I have only mentioned just a small portion of their many, wonderful scents that they carry.

XOXO, Crystal

My Reads of the Week: A Double Header!

So, as you can see, I'm trying to play catch up with some great books that were recently published by some of my favorite authors. One is on audio, (did I mention that I just LOVE Audible!), and the other is a hardback. Read on my friends!

Title: Dead Reckoning (Sookie Stackhouse series, Book #11)
Author: Charlaine Harris
ISBN: 0441020313

Goodreads Synopsis:

"With her knack for being in trouble's way, Sookie witnesses the firebombing of Merlotte's, the bar where she works. Since Sam Merlotte is now known to be two-natured, suspicion falls immediately on the anti-shifters in the area. But Sookie suspects otherwise and she and Sam work together to uncover the culprit - and the twisted motive for the attack. But her attention is divided. Though she can't 'read' vampires, Sookie knows her lover Eric Northman and his 'child' Pam well - and she realises that they are plotting to kill the vampire who is now their master. Gradually, she is drawn into the plot -which is much more complicated than she knows. Caught up in the politics of the vampire world, Sookie will learn that she is as much of a pawn as any ordinary human - and that there is a new Queen on the board . . ."

I am so excited to be reading this book. I have loved the Sookie Stackhouse series for several years and couldn't WAIT for Dead Reckoning to come out! This will be sure to tide me over until season 4 of True Blood premieres on HBO in June!

Title: The Twilight Saga: The Official Illustrated Guide
Author: Stephanie Meyer
ISBN:
0316043125

Goodreads Synopsis:

"This must-have hardcover edition--the only official guide--is the definitive encyclopedic reference to the Twilight Saga and provides readers with everything they need to further explore the unforgettable world Stephenie Meyer created in Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse, and Breaking Dawn. With exclusive new material, character profiles, genealogical charts, maps, extensive cross-references, and much more, this comprehensive handbook is essential for every Twilight Saga fan."

I'm about a quarter into the guide and have already discovered all sorts of interesting facts and backstory details about many of the Twilight characters. If you are a fan of the Twilight Saga, you will definitely want to read this guide!

Happy Reading,
Crystal

I've been preoccupied...

Hi all,

I'm sorry that I haven't been able to post anything in the last few days. My family had an unexpected emergency and it has taken up most of my time.

A tornado hit our town at the end of last week and caused quite a bit of devastation and destruction, resulting in six people's death in our city. While I live in the city and didn't see the damage that others did, my in-laws home was destroyed because of the tornado. So my family and I have been devoting all our extra time to helping them pick through what's left and trying to put the pieces back together. We've been putting in a lot of time with helping them move their things into our home and have begun to help cleaning up the debris and preparing to rebuild.

FEMA, the local chapter of the American Red Cross, the sheriff's department, the fire departments, and all sorts of volunteers have graciously pulled together to help out the communities in this area of Northeast Tennessee which were affected by the tornadoes that moved through last week.

I hope to get back on track in the next few days and share my regular love of all things vintage , rockabilly and pinup with you, so please be patient with me, as my family needs all the help I can offer right now.

What is left of my in-laws home

Just one of many, many houses which were destroyed or demolished in our area

Love,
Crystal
